I don't know if anyone knows about this concept, but it is called "Youth Court". . .or "Teen Court". . .or "Peer Court" (mainly Youth Court though. . .) Back in like 1990 or so, Collin Powell introduced what is called "America's Promise" Which is a promise to the youth that we, the adults, will help them out in life. . .read more here 5 Promises to the YouthSo in order to fulfill this concept, an organization was formed and called themselves "Youth Court." This was to assist the youth to become better, to give them a second chance because face it, we all screw up at some time or another. . .and instead of making it a horrific event, but allowing for the youth to realize the seirousness of their actions, the adults decided that other youth would be the best bet to demonstrate what they wanted, which is that youth are looking down on other youth who make mistakes that could cost them freedom from many of life pleasurable activities. Youth Courts only deal with things like misdemeanors and rarely walk on the toes of Juvinelle court, rather they assist it by lessening the work load of the Court so that it can focus it's energies on the individuals that need the help the most.
