Will Mr. Lawhead try to work Celticness into his Robin Hood book? Some of the Cele De would be nice, but another time period will be refreshing as well.

I hope this is his way of moving in a whole new direction. He's done the Sci/Fi.... Then the Fantasy.... Then the Celtic Fantasy.... Then the Celtic Mythology.... Then the Celtic Historical Fiction. I am hoping he moves in a new direction entirely. ;D

Arrgh, the English are just murdering sods. Sorry--my sympathies lies more with their neighbors that they actively tried to exterminate. LOL! Don't hold back... tell us how your really feel. That was sooooo 200 years ago. They're our greatest ally now. I just love the culture over there, not neccessary the monarchy. I have roots in England, Scotland, and Wales. So as I connect with them, I connect with my past. How is the American Revolution really any different than the way the U.S. throws its weight around now. Britain was the world power at the time and had the best miliary... yada yada yada.... The only reason we won was through non-conventionial warfare and gorilla tactics... Shall I start listing countries? Guam... Panama... Vietnam... Korea... Afghanistan.... Iraq.... Iraq (again).... The world power always tries to exercise their authority and maintain their dominent status. You can't fault the British for wanting to keep their colonies in line. IMO....

OK if your implying that in some way the British are more a plague than a people to the Irish well you got NO sympathy from me! I agree they made some mistakes but I would also like to point out some important points.
England finally overthrows its King... and they winning side exterminates 3/4ths of the Irish.
And you can hardly blame a famine on the British.
Pish posh to the Irish I say! Pish Posh!

I wasn't blaming the King--in fact, monarchy's about the only thing England had going for them. The monarch wasn't responsible for the rampant slaughter of the Irish--that was the Whig MPs.

Anyway... it occurred to me that if he leans toward the Fulke Fitz Warin version of Robin Hood, some Celtic stuff would be appropriate, as there is some suggestion that Fulke was a descendant of King Arthur through his mother.

Oh, and the potato famine actually was caused by English policies over what native Irish could and could not do, legally.
Potatos are not native to Ireland...

Yes, the potato was the one of the best examples of what transplating foods can do to cause ecological devestation.
