Doing a line edit on my book the Ataxian Chronicles: the Necromancer's Return and wonder if you can help me determine the correct sentence since past and passed are almost the same. 1) Now if only he could get past his chaste morals or 2) Now if only he could get passed his chaste morals. Which is correct? Thanks.

Option 1. "Passed" is the past-tense of pass. And since he hasn't already got past his chaste morals, it is in the future, not the past. Confused you more than before? I think I confused myself. But it's 1.

Okay--I thought so but I wanted to be sure. Even the dictionary's definition is ambiguous.

Yep. Option 1. I won't try an explanation since I'll just confuse things.
Did I pass the test or did I fail the past test only to wonder if I passed the cop on the side of the road?
