I am reading this book - King Arthur: Dragon's Child by M.K Hume. It's quite good; if you enjoy Lawhead's Arthurian series you'll probably enjoy this too. The author spent 20 years researching Arthur for various university courses and finally, at the prodding of friends, decided to write a book. The book itself tends to leave out a lot of the 'magic' stuff and gives a different interpretation of, for example, 'the sword in the stone', having the drawing of the sword happen at Glastonbury Tor and giving a more practical reason why Arthur alone could draw it. She also makes Guinevere Arthur's second wife because of an inscription apparently found on a grave at Glastonbury - "Here lies Arthur, King of the Britons, and Guinevere, his second wife". She veers off into a few different plot lines to keep it different from other works, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
More books yet to come in the series.
