Okay so I spend a good 6 - 13 hours a week on the road going to and from Houston from Aggieland. I have a well-loaded iPod that keeps me company along the way and I keep it stocked with NPR shows and sermons from various pastors I know/admire. As far as music is concerned, right now there's no better group than U2 for supplying me energetic tunes for the drive.
Who/What do y'all like to listen to on the road?

Well, there's Alexander Scourby, first and foremost. And then there's Jeff Johnson and the various souls he's recorded with, notably Brian Dunning. And Iona. Occasionally Mahler and Bach. (Road trips! He wants to talk about road trips! *hee hee!* *snicker!*)

nifty image! I took my old Isuzu up to almost that number before I sold it. Since I got my truck in January I've put 28,000 miles on it!

I love to listen to Kate Rusby most of all...Steve Taylor and the B-52s are fun, too...I also have a "Rock" playlist on my iPod that's a combination of stuff from the 60s through the Aughts--U2, Crosby Stills & Nash, Bjork, Toto, Smash Mouth, The Mamas & The Papas, ABBA, etc. Oh--and you must start off with Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. My mom would bring a tape of Gershwin's music on every road trip we took. Rhapsody in Blue became our traveling song, and I've continued the tradition with my own family. Lots of fun.

I just drove about 12 hours this past weekend... no one but me, the open road, and my music. So yeah, anyway... Nothing slow or quiet. Anything with a steady beat and quick-ish tempo, IMO. Personally, no CD is better for driving with the windows down than the Kings of Leon's first CD, Youth and Young Manhood. Their second - fourth CD's aren't so much road trip CD's, though they are just as good musically. Alternative rock usually keeps me going strong on the road. I like Moby, Creed, Sick Puppies, Goo Goo Dolls, and such. Also, Casting Crowns first CD is great for drives, as well as Stephen Curtis Chapman's Declaration. As far as country music goes, I'm partial to Brad Paisley, because his stuff is pretty upbeat. Really, when I'm on the road I'm open to any music as long as it keeps a steady rhythm. But that's all just my opinion.

Well on a leisurly drive where I get o enjoy the scenery I have found some of the more gentle melodies of CCR, The Doobie Brothers, and the Beatles are the best to cruise to. However, your right, after a while that kind of music puts you to sleep but thats why I bring more than one cd when I travel.
The Black Crowes have proved to be an awesome addition to any ride. Oddly enough, the only time I really enjoy their music is while I'm driving.
Soulish artists I would recommend are Anastacia, Joss Stone, and Christina Aguilera (I just can't help enjoying her music... well her vocals).
And of course for just some rocking music, I take my guidelines from 70's rock with awesome bands like Led Zepplin, Wolfmother, The White Stripes, Yes, Jet, The Killers, and some Queen for good meassure.
And if you are looking for new classic rock sound, I'd suggest looking through some Aussie bands to get some.

CCR, The Doobie Brothers, and the Beatles are the best to cruise to. Oh, I completely forgot about the Doobie Brothers!!! Toulouse Street, from 1972, is a GREAT roadtrip CD (especially the first few tracks).
