Interesting... first the article says that the French academy thinks Arthur was a Welshman, then the French spokesman says that Arthur was invented.
The Latin inscription seems a bit fishy to me... properly it should be "Pro Animam Artori".
Well, whatever. It doesn't matter in the slightest to me whether Arthur existed or not, I love the story.

when i have heard the stories that he was a briton,I just assumed that he was welsh because they are the true british...the anglo saxon was an invader in the beginning like the viking

Back then, I don't know if the Welsh would have considered themselves a different people group from the Cornish or the northern British. Certainly they didn't use that name. They were all closely related as part of the Brythonic kingdoms.
All three claim Arthur ... maybe he visited all those places, like Lawhead has him do.
