my daughter read byzantium while we were away and asked me if I could ask some questions here for her they are...
1. are the blessings in byzantium real celtic blessings or did SRL make them up?
2. was the main character based on an actual person.

Glad you're back, luv! 1. I don't know for sure but I think it very likely. SRL usually loves to do that research and come up with something authentic. 2. I believe Aidan is not based on an actual historical person, but may be taken from a few different people. There was a St. Aidan but he hung out at Lindisfarne, founded the monastery there, and was called the "Apostle of Scotland" for all the work he did there. Before that he was at the monastery in Iona, which was founded by Columba. He is called a saint by the Catholic church but was more of the Celtic Christianity branch.
