Did anyone see History Channel's the Crescent and the Cross, about the Crusades? I hadn't read SRL's trilogy on the Crusades for a while, but watching that program sure brought back memories of the finer points of that work. The detail, the research, the culture - I think that trilogy is just overlooked because SOA and the Pendragon Cycle are so awesome.
I think SRL deserves some credit for that work. It may not be his best, but it is still very, very good. (Byzantium as well is cut from the same cloth, so to speak.)

I didn't see the special on the history channel but I thoroughly enjoy SRL's Crusades stories. The time period is amazing and the detail he goes into is wonderful.

I saw the first part of it and thought that it was pretty good. It definately made me think of the Iron Lance.

For me anything on the Crusading brings the Celtic Crusades trilogy to mind! I thought it was very good and very readable, though I wouldn't say it was quite as good as SRL at his very best.
