I was given four books of the Pendragon Series and am reading them in order. I am now on book #2 (Merlin). I read a lot a lot of books but few get right to my emotions like a Stephen Lawhead book. When he described the fate of the fallen warriors and their acceptance into Paradise I started bawling out loud (something a book rarely makes me do). I am amazed over and over again at the amount of talent God could place inside one writer. It makes me want to honor Christ by doing my best at whatever my hand touches. In this age of the mediocre I thank Stephen for his dedication to his craft and to his Lord. It is my wish/hope/prayer that whoever inherits my books when I pass on will find them as entertaining and edifying as I have. May we all arrive safely in the "kingdom of Summer".

I must agree whole heartedly with your post. I am in the 3rd book and it is a trip how it makes me want to cry at times and how it makes me want to pick up the sword ( ephesians 6: 17) and do all I can do for His kingdom on earth. God bless you my sister and keep the tissues at hand.

I have to agree with you both. I read the first four books of Pendragon cycle and never read such good books like them. After reading them I thanked god for such a good writer and also I was encouraged to do more for his kingdom here on earth. Greets from Germany, Joel.

I am comfortable in my manlihood, so I have no qualms admitting the SRL makes my cry frequently. LOL
That part in Pendragon Cycle that gets me every time is when Ganeida dies. SRL goes into such gruesome detail as to the sight, and into Merlin's response and emotions. How can you help but shed a tear for the man? It shapes the rest of his life.
I think all of us have a moment or two in time that have that kind of impact on our lives. Hopefully, though, not that terrible.

Exactly this scene(Ganeidas death) is for me the worst SRL ever wrote. This must be so hard for Merlin, maybe this is a reason why I liked him so much.

Few books can make me really cry, but SRL's definately do it. Especially Ganeida's death and the end of Taliesin put me into shock (well, not really, but you get the picture). The only other books to do that to me are A Tale of Two Cities, Little Women, and Anne of Green Gables.

Agree totally with Lalara at the top of the page. It's stuff like this that inspired me to start writing myself - with the noble goal of touching people in that same way. Will I succeed? No idea. But it's worth a try, I think.
