Hi,
First of all il must say that i really enjoy reading the Pendragon cycle. By the way, sorry for my poor english... (I'm a french guy with a poor expertise in foreign languages.)
The problem is that i'm a bit confused with a character : cerdic ap morgant. He's killed by Arthur him-self in a duel at the end of the first book of Arthur (anyway, in the french version of the cycle). So, how come, he could emerged out from death to be the chief master of the saecsens, angli and pictes in the second book ?
Thanks for any lights you could put on it...

Welcome to the forum!
You're confusion with the the character is easily fixed; there's a timeline difference between the books. If you look around on this board, there is a thread where the correct timeline for events in the Pendragon Cycle are listed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer...
And sorry if it seems that I insist, but about the timeline, as far as i can know about it, book one (pelleas) is supposed to occur before book two (bedwyr). And in book one Cerdic is killed by Arthur. During the duel, the sword of Macsen is broken. In book two, during the battle down the slope of Baedun, Arthur and his knights find out that the felon is Cerdic ap morgant. Well, a bit confusing, isn't it ?
Anyway, may be I should read it again, and again... ;D
PS: to be sure there's no misunderstanding, I really enjoy the Pendragon Cycle... It's one of the best work i've ever read about the legend of King Arthur.

Hey, I get where your confusion comes from in Arthur, but it doesn't actually say that Cerdic dies. Arthur's sword lands on Cerdic's shield, which then knocks Cerdic in the head. He falls unconscious (quote) 'like a dead man. The fight is over'. Cerdics' ultimate fate is left unstated at this point... we only find out much later.

yup, Margim is right. This confused me to no end at one time until I read that portion very closely.
Somewhere, (I can't remember where) it clarifies that Arthur allowed Cerdic to live and return home since the agreement was that upon his defeat, Cerdic and his men would swear allegiance to Arthur. Cerdic, of course, brooded over his humiliation and eventually waged another battle with Arthur.
Pendragon is my favorite version of Arthur as well. Glad to have another fan - post more! (And don't worry, you speak better English than I speak French. Come to think of it, I don't speak French. I barely speak English.)

probably didn't translate into french very well. I hope the translators didn't use babelfish.

Hi... and thanks a lot.(sorry, i'm quite late writing about this...) It seems that all of you are right... The french translation seems to be a bit loose. So, i guess i should read it in english. And hence, it may improve my english too. Anyway, thanks again.
