Sherwydd This is the thread for the resources we will use in Sherwydd. These resources will includes maps, non-playing character (NPC) names, unusual vocabulary words (maybe), etc... I also think it would be good to repost our role playing (RP) characters and the description of them here in order to keep all of the resource information together. This thread is not for theorizing how we want the story line to go or anything like that. Also we don't want alot of chatter about the resources in this thread either. The cleaner this thread is, the easier it will be to find information. We can discuss any of the information about the resources in the Sherwydd gossip thread.
To help you pronounce the name of this town/city/area called Sherwydd, I will offer this quick reference. (using Lawhead's pronunciation guide as a ... uh ... guide) Sherwydd = (share' with)However, the 'th' is pronounce like the 'th' in bathe, lathe or scathe. The accent is on the first syllable. The origin was designed with the concept of the RP thing being a common story or experience that we in the Albion house are sharing. It is also meant to pay homage to Tolkien's "Fellowship" and with a bit of a stretch touch on Lawhead's plans to write about Robin Hood and the Sherwood Forest.

Sherwydd Map of the RegionThis is a topographical map with some landmarks listed. This will be updated as we go, in order to show new things we talk about or find. Hopefully showing the lay of the land will help us get more into the Sherwydd story. (It's a big map )

ok my character is shylah ( I don't think I saw anyone using that name) she has black hair and blue eyes, she is about 6 foot tall. age 23. she is a veternarian on earth and has a love of the outdoors she is often camping or hiking in her spare time and as a child grew up on a farm. she can read animals well so much so she has earned the tag of Dr Doolittle from towns folk. she comes from a country town in western Australia and is fairly friendly but a little shy tending to watch people and get a feel for them before revealing anything about herself.
Shylah decided to go camping in an area she hadnt been before but had always been drawn to because of aboriginal folklore about it being a magic area where a fair skinned man which they called a ghost had appeared to them centuries ago. mystery and folklore intrigued shylah and she had finally gotten a week off work to explore this myth and experience the beautiful natural surroundings that the area offered including caves and waterfalls.
she had been there three days exploring, hiking and swimming catching her own food and just relaxing from her full on work at the surgery. In the afternoon of the third day she was swimming and noticed a cave under one of the nearby waterfalls she goes in to explore as she gets through the waterfall and is climbing into the cave she slips, stumbles and falls but instead of being where she was she finds herself in a strange place.

Well, after a lengthely conversation with Karen yesterday (that ended in me getting kicked off by the ol' compy ), I think I better unnerstand the concept of Sherwydd. I'll print off the whole thing and read it later, but I think I've got a couple characters: KENTIGERN: Kentigern ("head-chief") Is about 5'4", 150 lbs. All muscle. He is not real thick but very sinewy and scruffy. He is the head of a barbarian village (don't have a name yet), and though he is not barbaric by nature, he is swept into the "kill or be killed" mentality that rules the village. KERWIN: Kerwin ("dark-skinned") is the son of Kentigern. He hates the barbarism that reigns in the village; so much that he left and ran away when he was twelve. At twenty-two, he lives off the land and is a professional bounty hunter. Taking no ones side, he sells his bow and blade to the highest bidder.

I'm finding my way ... reading... catching up.
I've come up with 3 characters: Carri. Bran, and Bors Brennus
Ages: Carri is 16, Bran is 25 and Bors is 21
Occupation: Bran - Ranger ; Bors is a hunter; Carri - artist and seamtress/ leather worker
Past: grew up on a farm in Tir Aflan, Parents died when they were young and all went bad in that land. Befreinded by an old blind bard who wandered the land named Duff who led them to the sea shore and travelled to Albion on a raft with him. Arriving in Albion with their freind and adopted grandfather they grew in knowledge and understanding in the arts of: hunting, tracking, herbalism, fighting, and blacksmithing (Bran also discovered he had the knack to be a bard under the tutelage of Duff, and Bors discoverd he had the knack to be an inventor) They both love lore and learning, they can read and write. Carri was to young to learn much but Duff kept her by his side while the very young girl grew into a promising young lady. Brothers of many talents they love the land and are deeply spiritual believing in both Father God and Mother Nature.
They now live in the Loch Lowman (sp?) area.
Duff- a blind Bard (and a school teacher from Our world) he did not become a bard until coming to albion (long story) but he was a poet in our world. Freind and mentor of Bran, Bors and Carri
(Ill start participating when I've solidified them a lil more.)
Suggestions welcome.

Hmm... our map of Sherwydd - created and posted by Cree8ivone nearly four years ago! - is no longer accessible here in Sherwydd resources. A map would be a tool of incalcuable benefit for the new story...

Awesome! Thanks Tegid. It may need to be altered for our new story, as far as landmarks, places, cities, etc., but the lay of the land remains the same, of course. I'm excited to get this thing going! Sorry for not getting on here more often, everyone.
