I managed to convince my friend to read it by straight-out buying it for her and dropping it on her head. She hurt me, then she read it.

Jeremy has been trying for 5 years to get me to read it and I finally gave in. I'm glad he didn't drop the book on my head.

With the goal of lightening your load, I would recommend skipping Pendragon and Grail. It always seemed to me that he wrote the first three, and then later, maybe after some fans complained, he wrote the last two. The first three tend to be less fantasy and more just mythical which strikes me as more realistic. Pendragon and Grail takes all the characters of the first three (or some I suppose) and has them do fantastic things.
In short, the last two don't follow the pattern of the first three. Pendragon and Grail resemble the SoA series in the fashion they were written.

With the goal of lightening your load, I would recommend skipping Pendragon and Grail. Thanks for your suggestion. I have been told that Pendragon and Grail are not as good as the first three. I might still give them a try. If I can not get into them, I will just skip over them.

After you're done with the first three or if you finish Pendragon and Grail, read Avalon. I loved it.

Pendragon is for die-hards, that's for sure. But I found the Grail quite entertaining. It's true it doesn't really follow the style of the "main" 3 books, but it's because it is more spectacular. It really keeps moving, twisting, and remains exciting. It seems to have less subtlety than the others, which in a way, is a refreshing way to end the series.
I concur with Avalon. It is best of his modern day settings, by far. It's a great read.

I've stopped badgering people to read things. They never do it. Maybe it will work for you.
