Hey guys, I know someone here will be able to help me, yup.
I'm wanting to make me a short film but I'm buggered for any ideas. I want to make something humorous, not necessarily a comedy though. No budget, no props other than what's around a house and my cast is 2-3 of my mates who are about 16-17 years old.
So, any ideas?

Any common situation can become hilarious. Just throw in a few unexpected twists...things that would have you teasing your friends for years, if they really happened...and let the film roll. I don't know if you're looking for something more serious...but using real life and shifting it a little beyond reality works both ways. You need to define what you want your audience to feel, then push the script toward that moment. Have fun.

I had this idea about the Wal-Mart Mafia. I got the idea one day walking into one and there was a couple of guys having a smoke outside and all I could think was "Wal-Mart Mafia" So you could do a short making fun of them. Or just pick one of your hobbies to make a documentary of and just go of on tangents or pointedly point out the quirks or I don't know. But try those on for size.

Well, I had this crazy idea for a short story that I never got around to writing, but you can use it if you want: the idea was that a guy sitting at a bus stop meets God (in the person of a guy sitting next to him), and he ends up spending the afternoon with him.

mockumentaries are always fun Indeed - exactly what I was going to suggest. A David Attenborough style 'day in the life of a Common Household Shoe' (Domestus Footwarus) or something of the sort would be kind of amusing.

Man, are you on the wrong site if you're looking for people with a sense of humor....

I definately have to agree with the mockumentaries idea. Fun and cheap! Also, completely mocking a genre is good fun. My friends and I did it for a school project. We made fun of the mobster movies that take place in the twenties or so. We even had finger machine guns (you know, the kind you used as a little kid?)

*Looking at Jer like he's lost his mind...* Okay...I just don't get that one. Does it mean I don't have a sense of humor?

Ahhh....Wakka.....the universal language.... *chuckles uncontrollably*
Spoofs and mockumentaries rule...simple, humorous, and CHEAP!!

Take a tip from one who has seen many amazing, humorous movies by her brother. Think up some weird idea like aliens impersonating you or being pushed back in time to three days ago, and run with it. Don't use the ideas I just mentioned, either, because my brother thought of them.
