Hello,
I have been a Stephen Lawhead fan ever since I picked up Talieson from the public library in November of 2001. Of Lawhead's books, I have read Talieson, Merlin, Arthur, Byzantium and the Celtic Crusades. I also like Alexandre Dumas, Sir Walter Scott and a host of other authors.
I am 24 years old and an IT Manager pursuing a much belated bachelors in history with my minor in English. I am married and have beautiful little 5 month old daugher named Emma. I also like to fence and I am Presbyterian.
Hopefully I will be able to post from time to time as topics come up!

Well, ivanhoe, welcome to the SRL board.
You certainly have a lot in common with many of our members. For example, I'm taking a degree in English Lit, but am also pretty well versed in history (especially pre-modern history). I look forward to seeing you get in on the debates here; and don't hesitate to start new ones.
Again, welcome.

Welcome to the board Ivanhoe. The character you have for your name is one of my favorites. There is a movie I really like based on Ivanhoe. You rock. All that from just your name to.
It's great to have you with us. I hope you enjoy your time and will join us all for some fun.

Hello again,
Thank you all for your greetings. I think that I will enjoy my stay here!
Twyrch, I am amused at how many people work in the IT field but yet have interests such as these.
Although I no longer browse forums nearly as much as I once did, I hope to discuss topics that interest me as I see them come up.
Dred, Which movie version do you like the best? I would take the Anthony Andrews, James Mason verison any day to the Robert Taylor version. I actually watched the better version before I read the book.

That's a good question. I can't for the life of me remember who played Ivanhoe in the version I like. I'll have to do some looking around to find the actual details.
I haven't read the book but I've been meaning to.

Do you recall about how old the movie was? The Robert Taylor version has that feel of the 1950's technacolor costume drama while the 1982 version (which is more faithful to the book) is a bit rougher and has more of a Medieval atmosphere.
The book is certainly worth the read. Scott knows how to make a very interesting story. I want to read his book the Talisman. I understand the Talisman is based upon the 3rd Crusade with Saladin and Richard.

I can't help it...I keep remembering what Beethoven said when he picked up one of Sir Walter's novels "My God! This man writes for money!" [with disgust].
I'm just kidding though...I tend to like Scot. Rob Roy is great, if historically inaccurate.

I think it's something about the field that drives us to find a way to deal with the stress and many of us turn to fantasy.

Welcome, welcome Ivanhoe! I'm currently in the middle of the book, but I got distracted. By the way, I love the name Emma.
