the novel by Ted Dekker is now a movie
Have you seen this movie yet? You need to. They didn't spend enough money making it and it shows in the production, but the story is very very good and follows the book close enough. The lead actors do a decent job as well.
This is a book that I have wanted to turn into a movie for a long time. I would have done many things different as a director, but I understood some of the choices that were made.
The movie is marketed like the current horror movies of today. It is trying to bring in those who like movies like Saw or Seven, but the book is more of a psychologial thriller. The movie would have been better off staying in that arena to avoid any false advertising the marketing may engender.
That said, the movie is worth your time and money and discussion. It is not heavy handed in it's 'Christian' message, but leaves plenty to talk about among friends and family.
THR3E is not the iconic movie that The Passion was, but it is still good. If Christians don't go see these types of movies, they will stop trying to make them. Better funding and directing will not come to the next movie without the help of moviegoers and their money.
