Just suppose that someone on this forum has never yet heard the Chieftains, or maybe never even heard of them. Taking this a little further, pretend for the sake of this thread that it might be possible for said hypothetical person to go see/hear them in the very near future.
What would you like to say here to persuade such a person to go? - or - What would you say to convince the person not to go?
Hypothetically, of course.

Hypothetically speaking, if you like traditional Irish music, the Chieftains are the ones to listen to. My favorite song of theirs is "Round the house and mind the dresser". I guess my favorite memories of this music are of my son who at 6 months old would crawl from any room in the house to where the stereo was playing their music and bounce up and down like he was dancing. He still likes to dance to them at 3 years old. They are very good and have played together for over 30 years. It's just fun to hear them having such a great time playing. Here's a link to Amazon to hear my favorite song: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004Z453/qid=1125173431/sr=8-1/ref=__1/102-2685123-1829767?v=glance&s=music

I would say that I agree with dreamer. If you are at all interested in traditional celtic music, then by all means go. Go and don't hesitate.

Interestingly, the following announcement was made concerning the concert that I was asking about:
(Dallas Morning News, Thursday, September 1)
DSO welcomes Katrina survivors to Chieftains
Figuring Hurricane Katrina refugees need all the cheering up they can get, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra is offering free Chieftains concert tickets to hurricane survivors staying in North Texas. The Irish folk band is giving three performances, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora. Residents of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama just need to show their drivers' licenses at the Meyerson box office for two free tickets.
