I got the impression from another thread that there were some Stargate fans here. So, does anyone like Stargate? My dad got me hooked on Stargate awhile ago, then I started watching the show. And Stargate Atlantis which, despite being a "spinoff", is actually just as good as the original show.

SG: Atlantis looks really good though...

Same here...I have both the original and director's cuts of the movie, but SG1 and Atlantis have not been able to enthrall me.

I always thought the show was alright. The first few seasons were very 'meh' to me, in fact I don't know how it stayed on the air so long. But it has grown a lot with age. It is a much better show now then it used to be. My fav 3, though, are still Angel/Roswell/Smallville respectively.

Not having cable/satillite, I catch the show but rarely; enjoy what I see, but it's very far from the movie, which I really like. (I mean, I really like the movie.) The concept is ridiculous--and on the "Special Edition" DVD they waste good disc-space on that "Chariots of the Gods" fellow --but it works, and is very entertaining. Hey, dinadan, do you prefer the theatrical cut or the director's cut?

Oh, the director's cut, by far.
Also, it wasn't just Erik von Daankin ("The Chariots of the Gods), they also talked about Zacheriah Stichin, who is insane but definitely entertaining.

I stand--or sit--corrected.

I think it should be in the entertainment section as well. Sadly, I'm not able to move it for some reason.

Hey Stargate fans! So what do you think of the latest season with Ben Browder? Is he a good enough O'Neil replacement? Oddly enough, I find him a decently pleasing diversion from the lack of Jack. But then again, the show had been weaning us off of him for a couple of seasons now, anyway.

I've been unable to stay current with things for a while now. I knew that Jack had been made a General and placed in command of the Stargate but what happened to his character?

Well, either I missed it, I don't remember, or they never really said...but the season that started this summer has Gen. Landry (played by Beau Bridges) running the place. O'Neil was promoted up and out. Carter was gone for several of the beginning episodes, too, and they had a different female character to stand-in named Vala. She was funny and okay for a bit, but I'm glad to have Carter back.
I suppose the original cast members may be getting a bit tired...bored...whathaveyou...
Anyway, Ben Browder is from the show Farscape (I never saw it) and I figure the "powers that be" were gambling he might carry over a fractional fan base in case the show should lose loyal Stargate fans w/o Richard Dean Anderson.
