Yes. One of the first songs to hit my mp3 player, in fact!

So, who has listened to their new album, "The Open Door"? I actually got my hands on a copy like, a month before it was released. It's got a decidedly different tone than the first album, that's for sure. At first, I didn't think it was going to be as good. But after multiple listenings, I can say that this album definitely has a lot of the eloquence and complexity that Fallen had. There's a shift in tone, but once you get to know the music, it becomes just about as good as Fallen. Unlike Fallen, it might take a few listenings to really appreciate it as much. Amy is in top form as usual, although she doesn't quite get the vocal workout she got in Fallen. Overall it's a no-brainer: if you love the band, get this album.

I don't have the album yet, but I have heard many of the songs. Definately different...I'm not sure from what I've heard that Amy's vocal talents are fully utilized, but the songs themselves are very good. I'm sure it will continue to grow on me.

I'm getting pumped. On April 2nd I'll be seeing Evanescence live in concert. Floor seats, too, so I'll (hopefully) be right in close with the band. I haven't been to a concert in years so I'm really looking forward to this one. Enough to drive five hours. Actually the trip will be fun too, as we'll be stopping by Centralia, the abandoned town home to coal fires that have been burning underground for decades. If anyone's played or seen Silent Hill, this is the town that inspired the town in that movie. Should be fun. I'll post pics if I'm able to get any!

I've been gone awhile but I just noticed this reply. I've actually become a huge fan of Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil this year. I think Amy Lee still has the top spot for me, but Within Temptation is really epic. Whereas Evanescence is introspective and deals with personal struggles and demons, Within Temptation seems to deal more with what's going on in the world around us. It's all just fantastic music anyway. And I was stoked to see Lacuna Coil's song "Closer" appearing in Guitar Hero III for the Wii. Tremendous! And a tough song to beat on any setting other than "Easy".
The Evanescence concert was a highlight of last year. I was maybe nine feet away from Amy Lee, and she made eye contact with all of us who were that close several times. She has a great stage presence and just seemed like someone who I'd love to hang out with... ya know if she weren't an uber-famous rock star.
Anyway, awesome show.
