Forgive my stupidity but here's my question for all you experts: Is there a way for me to put an image into my post message just for the one time (not as part of my signiture)? Can I either access something I've downloaded onto my computer (in my picture files) or can I link to something somewhere else on the web (an URL address - ie. an image at Photobucket or some other storage site). I'd like to be able to insert .gifs as well as .jpeg. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible. Use the same kind of code you'd use in a signature. Take out the spaces in the following: [ img]http://www.maidryn.com/onetimepic.gif[ /img] and you'll get results something like this:

Alright, here's stupid question #2. When I used that code with the tags and then I "previewed" it before I posted it, It came out with one of those little squares with the red X in them. Does that mean the image won't come out, it's too big, or what? Help me O wize and noble one.

While we wait for the wise and noble one to come along, we'll make do ...
It probably means there's something about the address (url) that it didn't like, and it can't find your picture.
By the way, you mentioned something in your first question about the file being on your computer. No, you don't want that. Be sure it's posted somewhere on the internet (you mentioned Photobucket). Think about it this way: If your pic is on your computer and you posted a link to it, and it all worked for someone else, then that person would be accessing a file on your very own personal computer. That can (or should) be scary for you. Now, there are programs and hardware that give that capability, but you don't want to go there. This is what servers and hosts are for. They are computers that we can and do access all the time, but they're equipped to handle others accessing their files without the scary dangers this idea presents to a personal computer.
So, be sure you've got your pic file hosted somewhere (else), check the address in your command carefully, and try again.
If it still doesn't work, then copy and paste your code here so that we can lau look at it and see just what needs to be done.

Thanks Tegid for jumping in and answering the questions.
Those are both very true solutions to the questions asked. I use photobucket for my images I post online. It is much safer than trying to use them directly from your computer. Let me/us know if you still have problems getting images up and we'll do what we can to help you.
Thanks again Tegid.
