Just read the new member of the month thing. . . totally agree. . .
But maybe have the polls be under the forum comp:member of the month thread? That way it's easy to find and then more votes can be cast. . .
Aree. . Disagree??

Disagree
We tried that already. I will direct people to it in the News Fader.
We have 3 nominations this month.... anyone who wants to get their vote in, should do so before the 15th.

I hope I CAN post something here about the books, but since I have no access to certain areas of the board, I don't know WHERE I'm supposed to talk about the books. ... I don't think I'm going to be able to get enough posts to get a password to the other sections of the board. I don't see many places where I CAN post or feel ok posting. I'm not doing very well at this, am I? *sigh* Twyrch, this post made me look at the forum in a different light. We have grown fantastically over the past several months and I can see how daunting it must appear to newcomers. I suggest (for someone more creative than myself) to develop a clear and simple designation as to what is password protected and what is open to newcomers. Maybe a symbol of a key behind the forum title, or perhaps some type of background color designation would save people a lot of unnecessary and frustrating exploration into forums they cannot access. For example, forums open to all have their own background color. Or maybe just a little graphic - or even just text that says "password protected". The point is, that it would be great to just look at the home page and know exactly which forums you're allowed to access. Of course, what appears simple to me may not be so simple in the code. Just a thought.

Each Forum is in a "Sector"... for instance we have [General] [Hidden Boards] [Entertainment] [Moderation] etc.... Perhaps I can change [Hidden Boards] to [Password Protected Boards]... There might be code out there to do other things too... but I'm about coded out for now...

Don't forget all the Houses and the Cairn...perhaps my terminology is faulty but those are not accessible to newbies either. Coded out? Is that one of them there IT thingies? No worries, man - just thought I'd contribute to this thread since it hadn't seen action in awhile.

Alright, I modified the Catagories.... Now I can use UBBC code in here as well... so anything I could add a small icon of a padlock I suppose... or do you think what I've done is self-explanatory enough? Coded out... Yeah, it's one of them IT "thingies", and since I'm a "gear-head" instead of a programmer, I get "coded out" easily.

I don't know what other people think, but in my opinion, IT ROCKS!! Works much better than trying to remove and build units anyway.

Do you think the padlocks on the Catagory Name and the Forum Name is overkill? Should it just be on the Forum name or is it fine the way it is? Heh... trying to remove and build units can be tricky when you try to get fancy.

I don't think it's overkill - either way. The padlocks are probably a little larger icons than they need to be, but you might be locked into the font size. ( no pun intended ) Apparently, no one else has an opinion so you can pretty much do whatever the heck you want.

I like what has been done and think it adds clarity to the forum. Great job.
