Maps in a Mirror: The Short Fiction of Orson Scott Card
^Pretty good stories until the last section of the anthology, where he retells some novels and gives a series of sappy stories for Mormon children. The rest, however, inspired me to try another story.

Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling--Richard Lyman Bushman
^Pretty good in most respects, but I find his defense of Smith's translations rather weak

I'm reading "Grace, Faith, Free Will" by Robert Picarilli--a defense of Reformation Arminianism (i.e., the Arminianism of Arminius himself, and his immediate followers) as contrasted with Calvinism.

One Million A.D.--ed. Gardner Dozois
^Some interesting fictional looks at where humanity might be in that year... lots of space travel and genetic modifications.

Oryx and Crake--Margaret Atwood
^Interesting dystopia that exaggerates some of the concerns of today's world (drugs, porn, violent TV, statism, and most of all genetic modification).

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince--J.K. Rowling
Cathedral of the Sea--Ildefonso Falcones
^Good history, but the characterization is somewhat weak and the author tells about the situation or has a character do so more often than he shows what's going on.

I'm reading "Grace, Faith, Free Will" by Robert Picarilli--a defense of Reformation Arminianism (i.e., the Arminianism of Arminius himself, and his immediate followers) as contrasted with Calvinism. Do I know you? I go to church with Robert Picirilli. He was also one of my college professors.
