I recently read Maskerade, my first Terry Pratchett book. I just about laughed myself silly. Any author that can parody both the musical and the book Phantom of the Opera is okay in my book.

The discworld series are great. I read only 2 or 3 of them but they made me so much laugh.... They are awesome. MY favorite character is Death. He is wonderful.

I tried one last night but didn't really like it... the story seemed somewhat incoherent.

I don't even remember the title now, but the cover said it was the first in the series.

it was actually the first of two....they are the only two that actually go together....the story continues in the second of the series....it's a bit odd....almost like Hitchhiker's Guide quality humor, but once you read a couple, you get to respect the genius of Pratchett's writing.

Yeah, his first is not his best. Pyramids is a good one to start with; I mean, geometry and camels, right? So is Wyrd Sisters, which parodies Macbeth, and Mort, which is a Death book.
