I couldn't get passed first king and never really got into Landover. I do love the sword series though as it's my favorite and his nonfiction book Sometimes the Magic Works is good, but I prefer SRL and Mercedes Lackey and a few others like Tracey Hickman and Margaret Weis.

All good choices I must say.
There are quite a few different authors with fun stuff to read. Some books hit me more as a mood item. When I'm in the mood for certain types of action or stories, I'll go in one direction or another. Sadly, I haven't purchased a book in probably three to four years now. I find myself rereading books I've owned for a long time over and over with the thought of getting some new material but I never get there. Maybe this coming year that will change.

I love the Sword of Shannara series, didn't read the whole series, couldn't get into the Scions of Shannara and couldn't finish first king. I never did get into Landover. Then last year, whilst on his website for four months, i became disillusioned completely. I don't blame Web Druid or the mods over there, I blame some of the regular fans in the click and the Terry Brooks fans are the only people I know that reviled me something fierce. Not a very nice fan representation for Mr. Brooks and I didn't want to be associated with them.
I felt no sense of wonder either with Allanon, though I was intrigued by Flick--Mr. Everyman. I didn't feel like I was there either, I more curious about Merlin and Charis than Allanon. When I read Mercedes Lackey, there are times I feel that I'm actually there in that world. Though I might actually be doing pathworking. I felt nothing like that with Terry.

I really enjoyed his Demon series...
I've corresponded with Terry Brooks and he's a great guy. I wouldn't judge his books based on the idiocy of some of his fans.

True enough. It's not his fault who his fans are, but his books are okay. I have the Word and Void, just I haven't had time to read it. I think his sometime the magic works nonfiction book is good and is slightly dog-eared now.
