Well if anything this debate is entertaining. Depends on what you are cooking I found personally that potatoes cook better shiny side out. Girl, do not get me started on potatoes... I think foil was created just to make baking potatoes easier. I wonder who, when and where aluminum foil was created. In my mind I keep thinking it was in Britain during one of the World Wars but I like to believe lots of things "in my mind". Today I'm a flower, tomorrow I'll be a chair, the next day a teddy bear...or maybe a panda bear...or maybe a dancing panda bear. Who knows. Let the debate continue. Love Maidryn

I use foil crumpled up in the center of my clay creations... and try to avoid having any part of it visible, whether shiny or not... however, it does speed up the baking process! I shall have to see whether wrapping foil with the shiny side out makes the clay bake more evenly... but first I have to finish my house.

WOW! I cannot believe this debate has gone into multiple pages (we really need to get lives). Tegid starts encouraging my "Conspiracy Theorist" tendencies. PinkEle adds to the debate with the sticky/non-sticky side issue (I hadn't even thought of that) and Karenee takes foil into the realm of creative projects. Where will it end? I thought aluminum foil was complex before but now...Yikes! I wonder if the inventor actually knew the chaos he was starting? By the way, does anyone actually know WHO, HOW and WHERE it was invented? Sincerely, Maidryn
