October 28 -- Morning He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him. Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; my ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. Then I said, "Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart." -- I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. There is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me. Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. -- There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. (Isaiah 59:16. Psalm 40:6-8 -- John 10:17-18. Isaiah 45:21-22 -- Acts 4:12. 2 Corinthians 8:9.)

October 28 -- Evening The enemy. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. -- Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me. (Luke 10:19. 1 Peter 5:8 -- James 4:7. Ephesians 6:11-16. Micah 7:8.)

October 29 -- Morning He is altogether lovely. May my meditation be sweet to Him. -- My beloved is ... chief among ten thousand. -- A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame. -- You are fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips. -- God ... has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. -- It pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell. Whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory. I ... count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith. (Song of Songs 5:16. Psalm 104:34 -- Song of Songs 5:10 -- 1 Peter 2:6 -- Psalm 45:2 -- Philippians 2:9 -- Colossians 1:19. 1 Peter 1:8. Philippians 3:8-9.)

October 29 -- Evening David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. -- I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (1 Samuel 30:6. John 6:68 -- 2 Timothy 1:12. Psalm 18:6,18-19. Psalm 34:1-4,8.)

October 30 -- Morning It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? -- I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before Your eyes"; nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You. Shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. -- Wait for the LORD, and He will save you. -- Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD. Let us not grow weary while doing good, ... in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. -- See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. (Lamentations 3:26. Psalm 77:9 -- Psalm 31:22. Luke 18:7-8 -- Proverbs 20:22 -- Psalm 37:7. 2 Chronicles 20:17. Galatians 6:9 -- James 5:7.)

October 30 -- Evening Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. -- Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. -- You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ. -- The tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. No man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. -- Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt. (Song of Songs 2:15. Psalm 19:12 -- Hebrews 12:15 -- Galatians 5:7. Philippians 1:6,27 -- James 3:5-6,8 -- Colossians 4:6.)

October 31 -- Morning "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit," says the LORD of hosts. Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or as His counselor has taught Him? God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit. -- Born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. My Spirit remains among you; do not fear! -- The battle is not yours, but God's. The LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD's. (Zechariah 4:6. Isaiah 40:13. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29. John 3:8 -- John 1:13. Haggai 2:5 -- 2 Chronicles 20:15. 1 Samuel 17:47.)

October 31 -- Evening Do as You have said. Establish Your word to Your servant, who is devoted to fearing You. So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in Your word. Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope. Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver. Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations. God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus. Exceedingly great and precious promises. (2 Samuel 7:25. Psalm 119:38,42,49,54,72,89-90. Hebrews 6:17-20. 2 Peter 1:4.)

November 1 -- Morning Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until He has mercy on us. A continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you. -- In every place where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. -- Pray without ceasing. (Proverbs 8:34. Psalm 123:2. Exodus 29:42 -- Exodus 20:24. Matthew 18:20. John 4:23-24. Ephesians 6:18 -- 1 Thessalonians 5:17.)

November 1 -- Evening His name will be called ... Counselor. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD, and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD. Does not wisdom cry out, and understanding lift up her voice? "To you, O men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of men. O you simple ones, understand prudence, and you fools, be of an understanding heart. Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips will come right things. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength." The LORD of hosts ... is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance. -- If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Isaiah 9:6. Isaiah 11:2-3. Proverbs 8:1,4-6,14. Isaiah 28:29 -- James 1:5. Proverbs 3:5-6.)

November 2 -- Morning Always pursue what is good. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps; who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return ... but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously. -- Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. (1 Thessalonians 5:15. 1 Peter 2:21-23 -- Hebrews 12:3. Hebrews 12:1-2. Philippians 4:8.)

November 2 -- Evening Mighty God. You are fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips; therefore God has blessed You forever. Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, with Your glory and Your majesty. And in Your majesty ride prosperously. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. -- You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and said, "I have given help to one who is mighty." -- The Man who is My Companion. Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation. -- Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ. Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. (Isaiah 9:6. Psalm 45:2-4,6 -- Psalm 89:19 -- Zechariah 13:7. Isaiah 12:2 -- 2 Corinthians 2:14. Jude 1:24-25.)

November 3 -- Morning The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them. To you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, ... a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. -- The way of the LORD is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! -- Whoever is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD. -- The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. -- If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God. -- Whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance. He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God. -- You are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. -- My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (Hosea 14:9. 1 Peter 2:7-8 -- Proverbs 10:29. Matthew 11:15 -- Psalm 107:43 -- Matthew 6:22 -- John 7:17 -- Matthew 13:12. John 8:47 -- John 5:40 -- John 10:27.)

November 3 -- Evening Everlasting Father. Hear, O Israel! The LORD our God, the LORD is one! I and My Father are one. The Father is in Me, and I in Him. -- If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. -- Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father." -- Here am I and the children whom God has given Me. -- He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. -- "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." -- Before Abraham was, I AM. -- God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" To the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever." -- He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. -- In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. (Isaiah 9:6. Deuteronomy 6:4. John 10:30,38 -- John 8:19 -- John 14:8-9 -- Hebrews 2:13 -- Isaiah 53:11 -- Revelation 1:8 -- John 8:58 -- Exodus 3:14. Hebrews 1:8 -- Colossians 1:17 -- Colossians 2:9.)

November 4 -- Morning Now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials. Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. -- The exhortation ... speaks to you as to sons, "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him." -- Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. -- For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. -- God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able. (1 Peter 1:6. 1 Peter 4:12-13 -- Hebrews 12:5 -- Hebrews 12:11. Hebrews 4:15 -- Hebrews 2:18 -- 1 Corinthians 10:13.)
