October 20 -- Evening May the LORD your God accept you. With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? We are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. -- There is none righteous, no, not one. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, ... to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Accepted in the Beloved. -- You are complete in Him. (2 Samuel 24:23. Micah 6:6-8. Isaiah 64:6 -- Romans 3:10,23-26. Ephesians 1:6 -- Colossians 2:10.)

October 21 -- Morning Of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. -- Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things. -- If children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. I and My Father are one. The Father is in Me, and I in Him. -- My Father and your Father, and ... My God and your God. -- I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one. The church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (John 1:16. Matthew 17:5 -- 1 John 3:1. Hebrews 1:2 -- Romans 8:17. John 10:30,38 -- John 20:17 -- John 17:23. Ephesians 1:22-23. 2 Corinthians 7:1.)

October 21 -- Evening A servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. There was ... a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called 'benefactors.' But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves." -- Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. Jesus ... rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. (John 13:16-17. Luke 22:24-27 -- Matthew 20:28. John 13:3-5.)

October 22 -- Morning O God, my heart is steadfast. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. -- He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies. Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. -- In the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. The God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. (Psalm 108:1. Psalm 27:1. Isaiah 26:3 -- Psalm 112:7-8. Psalm 56:3 -- Psalm 27:5-6. 1 Peter 5:10-11.)

October 22 -- Evening The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all. The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD. -- If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it? I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, that they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things. He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, "What have You done?" -- If God is for us, who can be against us? He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. -- Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Psalm 103:19. Proverbs 16:33 -- Amos 3:6. Isaiah 45:5-7. Daniel 4:35 -- Romans 8:31. 1 Corinthians 15:25 -- Luke 12:32.)

October 23 -- Morning One's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses. A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked. -- Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble. -- Godliness with contentment is great gain. Having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. Give me neither poverty nor riches - Feed me with the food allotted to me; lest I be full and deny You, and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and steal, and profane the name of my God. -- Give us this day our daily bread. Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? -- "When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" So they said, "Nothing." -- Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Luke 12:15. Psalm 37:16 -- Proverbs 15:16 -- 1 Timothy 6:6,8. Proverbs 30:8-9 -- Matthew 6:11. Matthew 6:25 -- Luke 22:35 -- Hebrews 13:5.)

October 23 -- Evening It is the Spirit who gives life. The first man Adam became a living being. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. -- That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. -- Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God. -- Reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (John 6:63. 1 Corinthians 15:45 -- John 3:6 -- Titus 3:5. Roman 8:9-11. Galatians 2:20 -- Romans 6:11.)

October 24 -- Morning I have been cast out of Your sight; yet I will look again toward Your holy temple. Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me." Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. I have forgotten prosperity. And I said, "My strength and my hope have perished from the LORD." -- Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not cast us off forever. -- Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: "My way is hidden from the LORD, and my just claim is passed over by my God"? -- "With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you," says the LORD, your Redeemer. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance. -- We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. (Jonah 2:4. Isaiah 49:14-15. Lamentations 3:17-18 -- Psalm 44:23 -- Isaiah 40:27 -- Isaiah 54:8. Psalm 43:5 -- 2 Corinthians 4:8-9.)

October 24 -- Evening The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them. There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" -- What has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart with which he has toiled under the sun? For all his days are sorrowful, and his work burdensome; even in the night his heart takes no rest. All is vanity and grasping for the wind. -- They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. -- I will pour water on him who is thirsty. -- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. (Isaiah 41:17. Psalm 4:6 -- Ecclesiastes 2:22-23,17 -- Jeremiah 2:13. John 6:37 -- Isaiah 44:3 -- Matthew 5:6. Psalm 63:1.)

October 25 -- Morning Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. -- He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world? ... If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen. (Matthew 28:20. Matthew 18:19-20 -- John 14:21. John 14:22-23. Jude 1:24-25.)

October 25 -- Evening The end of all things is at hand. I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. -- The heavens and the earth which are now ... are reserved for fire until the day of judgment. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. -- You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. We have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. -- We ... look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless. (1 Peter 4:7. Revelation 20:11 -- 2 Peter 3:7. Psalm 46:1-3 -- Matthew 24:6. 2 Corinthians 5:1 -- 2 Peter 3:13-14.)

October 26 -- Morning The LORD reigns. "Do you not fear Me?" says the LORD. "Will you not tremble at My presence, Who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, yet they cannot prevail; though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it." -- Exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another. He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. -- You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled. If God is for us, who can be against us? -- Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Psalm 99:1. Jeremiah 5:22 -- Psalm 75:6-7. Daniel 2:21 -- Matthew 24:6. Romans 8:31 -- Matthew 10:29-31.)

October 26 -- Evening Take heed to your spirit. "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side." "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?" But He ... rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of." "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." So Joshua the son of Nun ... answered and said, "Moses my lord, forbid them!" Then Moses said to him, "Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!" The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. (Malachi 2:15. Luke 9:49-50,54-55. Numbers 11:27-29. Galatians 5:22-26.)

October 27 -- Morning He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Then the priest shall command to take for him who is to be cleansed two living and clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop. And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water. As for the living bird, he shall take it, the cedar wood and the scarlet and the hyssop, and dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water. And he shall sprinkle it seven times on him who is to be cleansed from the leprosy, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose in the open field. Behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." -- Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. (Matthew 8:17. Leviticus 14:4-7. Luke 5:12 -- Mark 1:41-42.)

October 27 -- Evening He whom you bless is blessed. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. -- Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it! Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. (Numbers 22:6. Matthew 5:3. Matthew 5:4-12 -- Luke 11:28. Revelation 22:14.)
