Oh, that I had wings like a dove! Then I would fly away and be at rest.

It came about, when the sun arose, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah's head, so that he grew faint and wished in himself to die, saying, "It is better for me to die than to live."

Job spoke, and said, "Why is light given to him who is in misery, and life to the bitter of soul, who long for death, but it does not come, and search for it more than hidden treasures?" -- Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? "Father, save Me from this hour"? -- In all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Let us be diligent to enter that rest.

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction; ... the gate is small and the way is narrow which leads to life, and there are few who find it. -- The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. -- Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you. -- Be ... diligent to make your call and election sure; ... for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. -- Run in such a way that you may win. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown.

For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. -- The LORD will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.

You always hear Me.

Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me." -- "Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again." -- Behold, I have come ... to do Your will, O God. -- Not My will, but Thine be done.

As He is, so are we in this world. -- This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

He always lives to make intercession for them. -- We have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Your name shall ... be called ... Israel; for as a prince you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.

In his strength he struggled with God; yes, he wrestled with the angel and prevailed; he wept, and sought favor from Him. -- [Abraham] did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.

Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, "Be removed and be cast into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. -- If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. -- Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Little children, abide in Him.

He who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. You were running well; who hindered you?

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. -- For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

The fruit of the Spirit is longsuffering, gentleness.

The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.

Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love. -- Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. -- The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. -- Love is longsuffering and is kind.

In due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. -- Be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient; establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Immanuel, ... God with us.

Will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. -- The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. -- Great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh.

God ... has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.

The first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, ... Jesus came and stood in the midst. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus ... said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and see My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Arise and depart, for this is not your rest. -- Here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come. -- There remains ... a rest for the people of God.

Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. -- Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope completely upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. -- This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, ... The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup.

Heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. -- All things are yours. -- My beloved is mine. -- The Son of God ... loved me and gave Himself for me.

The LORD said to Aaron, "You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel."

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. -- I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day.

O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.

Watch, ... for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.

The day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and ... of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected. I do not count myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. -- We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Jesus spoke these words, "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one."

The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former, ... and in this place I will give peace.

The house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. -- The glory of the LORD ... filled the LORD's house.

Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. He was speaking of the temple of His body. -- What had been made glorious has no glory in this respect, because of the glory that surpasses it. -- The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. -- God ... has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. -- The Prince of Peace. -- He is our peace. -- The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Let us put on the armor of light.

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. -- Found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith. -- The righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.

He has covered me with the robe of righteousness. -- I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. All things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly.

When you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, "We are unprofitable servants."

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. -- What do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it? -- By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. -- For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things. -- All things come from You, and of Your own we have given You.

Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is justified.
