lovehound i understand what you are saying and I appreciate you taking a risk in letting us know how you feel
Oh and I am one hundred and ten percent non religious!!!!!!
I do have a personal relation ship with Jesus though!!
It is a relationship not a religion.
Like I have said many times before Just 'cause I believe it don't make it true

Lovehound, I am a Christian and I ENTIRELY agree with you, christians do tend to jump down peoples throats, Its good intentioned but it is annoying. I find it very difficult not to speak up when someone has an opposing veiw from mine. I have learned though that sometimes it is best to keep the mouth shut. But what I have to say in oppostion to your veiw is that When I tell someone I am a Christian I am immediatly labelled as a bible thumping Jesus freak. I believe both sides need to settle down a bit.

You have to understand why christians jump down throats. Many believe you are going to hell. They want to warn you, so many of them think that yelling, screaming, insulting, and generally trying to make you feel inferior will save you.
I've found that is not necessarily true. I try to lead by honest example - which means I admit I am not perfect and am probably a worse person than you, but I try to radiate the joy and truth that I feel and know. If someone wants to know more about it, I encourage them to ask.
My philosophy irritates any number of evangelists, and is apparently sinful according to the gospels...or so I am told. I feel it is more effective, though, than alienating myself from everyone so I disagree with them...oh well.
They'll get over it.

Ain't that the truth. . .sometimes I just wished that everyone would sit back, chill and say, "I guess in the end we'll know, no sense in trying to convince you before hand." To each their own. . .as long as we carry on intelligent conversations about religion and understand all aspects, why shove it down anyone's throats. ..in fact, why do it even when intelligent conversations aren't around?

Ya know... as I was reading this thread, I was reminded of a couple songs. One called "If we are the body" by Casting Crowns....
It's crowded in worship today As she slips in trying to fade into the faces the girls' teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know farther than they know
CHORUS But if we are the body why arent His arms reaching why arent His hands healing why arent His words teaching and if we are the body why arent His feet going why is His love not showing them there is a way there is a way
A traveler is far away from home he sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row the weight of their judgemental glances tell him that his chances are better out on the road
CHORUS But if we are the body why arent His arms reaching why arent His hands healing why arent His words teaching and if we are the body why arent His feet going why is His love not showing them there is a way
Jesus paid much too high a price for us to pick and choose who should come and we are the body of Christ
Chorus (2x) If we are the body why arent His arms reaching why arent His hands healing why arent His words teaching and if we are the body why arent His feet going why is His love not showing them there is a way
Jesus is the way
And the other, "What if I stumble" by DC Talk...
[the greatest single cause of atheism in the world today Is christians who acknowledge jesus with their lips Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.]
What if I stumble? What if I fall?
Is this one for the people? Is this one for the lord? Or do I simply serenade for things I must afford? You can jumble them together, my conflict still remains Holiness is calling, in the midst of courting fame
Cause I see the trust in their eyes Though the sky is falling They need your love in their lives Compromise is calling
(chorus) What if I stumble, what if I fall? What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all? Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl? What if I stumble, and what if I fall?
What if I stumble, what if I fall? You never turn in the heat of it all What if I stumble, what if I fall?
Father please forgive me for I can not compose The fear that lives within me Or the rate at which it grows If struggle has a purpose On the narrow road you’ve carved Why do I dread my trespasses will leave a deadly scar
Do they see the fear in my eyes? Are they so revealing? This time I cannot disguise All the doubt I’m feeling
(repeat chorus)
What if I stumble? Everyone’s got to crawl when you know that You’re up against a wall, it’s about to fall Everyone’s got to crawl when you know that (2x)
I hear you whispering my name [you say] My love for you will never change [never change]
(repeat chorus 2x)
What if I stumble, what if I fall? You never turn in the heat of it all What if I stumble, what if I fall? You are my comfort, and my god
Is this one for the people, is this one for the lord?
