I don't usually give names to my inanimate objects, but I know plenty of people who do. A friend once had a minivan built in the late '80s or early '90s which had a "voice" reminder rather than a beep or whine or flashing light: "The door is ajar." "Please remove your keys." "The lights are on." or whatever... they called the car "Data" or "Commander Data"... My brother and sister in-law always name their cars, computers, etc... my favorite was a Dodge Caravan named "Daisy" (liscence number began DSY). My last car kinda had a name, which we occasionally used: "Eric" short for "Eric the Red"... it was a red Chevy Lumina with liscence plate beginning "VKG"...

When i was in Mexico we had a Chrysler Pacifica for a rental car, it had all the work, tons of buttons and a gps. The Gps had a voice which we called "Gena of York" Why? don't ask me. Her favorite saying was: " turn right in 1.1 kilometers."
