I didn't really like the movie. It was the standard "epic" stuff, but no real soul. Saw the flick last Saturday. Here's what happened. Movie starts. Orlando Bloom enters. Liam Neeson dies. Drew: "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" end of movie. that about sums it up for me.

So, so sad...it's wasn't really a sleeper flim; if nothing else, the excellent soundtrack should've held your attention

Yeah, the soundtrack was awesome! And the emperor's mask... I kinda wish they'd never shown his face or hands, though. Not because it was gruesome, but because I wanted to imagine he was different. He had an awesome voice.

The soundtrack WAS good, but I just didn't think the movie was that good. Reynald de Chatillion was 'da bomb, though.

I saw the movie yesterday. I liked the movie for its concept and some of the ways it was handled. But it didn't really give me the nail-biting thrill that other epic movies have reduced me to.
Orlando Bloom could have done a better job of the character he played. I thought he was stoney faced most of the time. There were so many places in the movie where he could have done so much with his character, and yet...he didn't take advantage of such an opportunity.

I agree about his voice being awesome...although I didn't really regret seeing his hand and face...somehow I feel it showed so much more soul where he was concerned. Not to forget to mention that it struck a chord in me...

Except me and my friend laughed throughout the whole movie. Especially at the mask guy, I really couldn't take him seriously. And how it showed 2 seconds of the battle, and then it ended, and there were alot of fill in the blank scenes. And at a couple of parts I couldn't tell if they were even speaking english or not. Very dissapointing for me because I had high expectations for it.

Ok, well I guess I can throw my two cents in. Yeah it wasn't the greatest epic ever, but over all I liked the movie and even though they didn't pull it off completely I liked the "Kingdom of Conscience" idea to a point. Obviously, as a devout Christian I couldn't fully embrace the idea as it was portrayed. However, one facet was the one thing I absolutely loved about the movie. It was the fact that through out the movie 5-6 groups/ characters thought they knew what God's will was while in reality what many of them said was God's will was what they wanted. There was the preist at the beginning, the priest freind of Belians Father (and their like minded characters) then their was the Bishop in Jerusalem, the "Knights Templar and the Muslims. Each thought they knew what God's will was yet God is npot that scitso. Yes, I believe, like the Muslims in the movie that all things in one sense are the will of God, ultimately. However, then their is God's will in the other sense which I think is close to the "Kingdom of Conscience Idea" what I mean by that is I think God is all about Love. He loves us so we can love others. Now that doesn't mean he doesn't care about holiness. He is afterall a miracle working God who creates a lasting change in those who come as he woos them in his love.
Ok I know this was long- I'm sorry, but this idea is worth the watch. I left the movie thinking about all the different denominations within Christianity (especially these) and all of the Theistic Groups like Judaism and Islam and could not help but meditate on the reality of how often people miss interpret God and get confused on what his will is. I am not saying I have the answers, but even if you hated the movie think about that for a while. What is God's will and why do so many both religious and non miss it?
