Curious...does anyone play video games as much as I do? Madden, Grand Theft Auto, Hitman, Tom Clancy, etc...? I used to play games on PC, but since I haven't had a functional computer in my home for over 5 years, I am now confined to my PS2.
I play way too much for a man that is no longer a teenager, but it seems adult gaming is a new trend. Anyone else?

I'm still 17, but I'll say right off the bat the whole oldies can't play games too thing is false . But seriously, I've gamed with people in their 20's/30's lots. The standard simply is that generations previous didn't grow up with the stuff, but anyways, ya, I'm a big gamer. I got the xbox, psx, gba, game gear, sega genesis, snes, PC, etc.

I don't play as much as I did in the past. The newest system I have is a N64. There are quite a few different things I'm spending my money on instead of a new system. I would love to get some new stuff though. I just don't have the time or money.

I have an Xbox. I play mostly sports games on that since it's my opinion that they aren't any good on the PC. Most played recently have been Fight Night and Madden 2005. I also play some old games (Did-Dug, Pac-man) with my 5 year old. On the PC side I like City of Heroes and am waiting for the next installment of Diablo. I'm 36 with 2 kids, one of which is only a month old so I rarely get to play anymore but when I do, that's it.

All the literary theologians on this site are probably irked I started a thread about video games...hehe ;D
I am a big sports gamer also. Madden, of course, as well as Chase for the Cup, MLB, and ugh...rented NBA Live - what a waste of money. What is everyone's experience of EA Sports vs. ESPN games? I am used to EA controls and am hesitant to adapt to ESPN games, even though they've been annihilating EA in reviews.
My favorite game of late is Hitman & Hitman 2. Talk about addicting! I had to trade it in just so I would stop playing it. I enjoy the variable nature of the game. At least, I like it better than the Clancy games, which seem to have a fixed sequence for completing levels. Pandora Tomorrow was a huge letdown. I hate dying 50 times trying to figure out the one and only way of passing a level. You'd think we would have evolved past Mario Bros by now, wouldn't you?
My fondness for PC games dates back to Red Baron - 13 years ago. Then Castles, Railroad Tychoon, Heretic, Wolfenstein, Doom, and all those cheesy 100K games I used to download from local bulletin boards. (Before "Internet", it was local guys with a computer, 20 modems and phone lines, and a heck of a lot of time on his hands....we've come a long way, eh?)

I gave up on console gaming sometime after I turned 13. However, I'm a big PC gamer.

When I was younger I was never much of a gamer (mostly because my parents wouldnt want to purchase a new gaming console every time one came out). But I still had the skills of a gamer in me, so as long as I had my Nintendo, I played mario. Then I took advantage of the PC, since it was capable of playing games. Everything from Warcraft I to Age of Empires, to StarCraft. But to tell you the truth... games kept on evolving and my computed didnt, so I fell back on the newer 3d games.
At the begining of this century I purchased an Xbox to make up for lost time. To that I added the comfort of many games of all types:
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind Fifa World Cup 2004 Halo Halo 2 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Grand Theft Auto III Grand Theft Auto: Vice Ciity Fable Ninja Gaiden Burnout 2 True Crime and a few others which are not worth naming.
The thing is, that I got addicted to these games. Halo 1 in special with its system link availability. Recently Halo 2 with its Live system got me hooked.
Yet now.... I am deciding to try PC gaming again. This next week I shall be purchasing a new computer with good enough specs to play the most recent games out there. So there will be alot of new stuff for me to try out.
Yet my greatest prize in gaming was to become a community leader of a game called Fable for the Xbox. Having created the largest fansite on the net for it, the community for the game started growing. During the development of that game I was invited once to the company in Guildford, England to playtest and write a report on it and once to Antwerp, Belgium to attend a games conference in which Fable was being demonstrated. Now having been one of the largest selling games for the Xbox after Halo 1 and Halo 2, they are releasing an extended version with higher defenitions for the PC, which is another reason for my recent purchase.
But to answer your question.... yes, I am a big gamer.

Those were great games - That alien game with the little black square monsters you had to shoot. The background music for that game is still stuck in my head... Anyway. What's a good military strategy game for PC? My brother has Age of Empires II or III or whatever it is - it has Sims-type strategy, but still the overly simplistic "run your army at 'em" combat simulation. Is there anything better out there? (Reynard: Halo 2 has had me kicking myself for investing in PS2 instead of XBox...it's like lasertag on your sofa! Especially if you're playing online with friends. I just hate Xbox controllers - that's the only reason I went PS2.)

Personally, I say Warcraft is the best RTS on the market. The Age of Whatever the heck you happen to have are decent games as well (not nearly as fun as WC III, but still)...but I don't know of any more complicated past that. I'm sure they exist...just not that popular.

Oh yeah! Kingdom Hearts!!! I seriously can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2 to come out (that and the next Zelda game). I am so impatient--come out, come out, wherever you are! Lately I've been playing Star Ocean 3. I picked it up because I saw on a game review show (X-Play) that it has over 70 hours of game play and they weren't kidding. It has been keeping me busy. I play way more video games than any other thirtysomething females I know. It's a good thing I don't have kids and my husband has his own video games to keep himself busy.

Has anyone heard of the Wii? More importantly, does anyone play nintendo games on nintendo consoles? Zelda anyone? Just wondering if most of North America is Xbox and PS fans. Maybe I'll start a new thread. By the way, I think that book lovers can be gamers as well.
