But his not-so-silent companions followed closely. Dan began to wonder how they were hiding themselves so completely.

G sat on one of Castlerigg's stones and checked his locators. Several blips flashed on the map, which seemed to rise out of his locator screen. "Ah, Dan is elusive! This will be an excellent hunt!" He whistled and a sleek one-person hover-jet lifted off and swooped over to collect him. Collapsing the screen, G tucked it into his pocket and jumped into the open cockpit. "Lindisfarne, away!"

Suddenly, G heard a sustained hiss from the direction of the floor, and very shortly after that his plane and its crew disappeared below the surface of the water, never to be heard from again.
A brightly plumaged bird was seen flying away from the area where the sea was bubbling. For all the world, it looked like a xophiniate.

Suddenly the xophiniate heard a distant rumbling and a great ship launched from beneath the earth nearby. It rose higher and higher, finally disappearing into the sky leaving only a plume of vapor to mark its passage.
Aboard the space-ship, karenee turned to dreamer. "Uh, why am I weightless? I think we just got launched into space! We've got to get out of this shield and find the controls before we end up on another planet!"

Karenee accidentally bumped a lever and DanTheMan and Tegid were sucked onto the spaceship into a room filled with canned coffee.

[brown]Tegid[/brown] keeled over and, as he lost consciousness, he called out to [red]DanTheMan[/red], "I'm allergic to this stuff!"

DanTheMan, holding one hand over his mouth, used his other to grab Tegid and drag him out of that storage room.

Karenee toggled another lever and gasped as several surveilance screens lit up. "Look, Dreamer! Is that DantheMan? What's he doing up here?" She glimpsed the stacks of canned coffee as Dan slammed the door shut. "Ooooh, coffee! We've got to get out of here and find out what's aboard this ship. Do you suppose we might explore a few planets while we're up here?"

DanTheMan, after leaving Tegid leaning against a wall to recover, quickly said to Karenee, "Quick! Seal the inside door to Storage Compartment 1 and then open its space door -- that will empty the contents out into space!!"

Karenee sighed as she looked up from a screen. "I'm sorry for you, Dan, but it looks like that's the only liquid on board. We'll have to drink it till we can find water and stock up."

Karenee raised an eyebrow. "CAN I look at Tegid? It's been rather hard to do thus far."
"Don't worry, I think the ship's controls are pretty basic. We should be able to grapple in some ice from one of the asteriods when we pass them in a couple hours. In the meantime, I don't mind drinking the coffee, so no tossing it out the airlock."

Tegid sneaked away from the discussion, explored the ship, and discovered that there is an escape pod.

As Tegid reached for the "open" button, an alarm started blaring over his head, and the pod launched without him.
Up in the control room, Karenee turned to DantheMan and said, "I think that was the escape pod launch button you just bumped."
As Dan protested his innocence, a voice blared over the communication speakers. "I hope there's enough fuel to make it back to earth. Why did the ship launch? Master never explained what to do. What should I do? I forgot my coffee!!! Aaaaugh! How will I survive till I reach the next convenience store? Oh, no!"
The voice went off into loud weeping, till Dreamer found the volume control and turned it down.
Dan glanced around the room. "What was that? We're all here except Tegid, and that wasn't his voice."
Meanwhile, Tegid managed to transport the entire contents of the coffee storage room into the airlock, closed the door and pressed the button to cycle the exterior door open.
Dreamer, who was spending her time studying the ship's log to find out who may have been in the escape pod, nearly jumped out of her skin when Karenee screamed.
"Aaaugh! He's ejected my coffee!" Karenee dashed out of the room (because, ya know, the shield keeping them locked down vanished somewhere).
Dan pointed at the view screen where a trail of exploding coffee cans floated back from the ship, and burst out laughing.
