Here's a bonus question from some months ago that hasn't yet been answered: Watson plainly tells us that he earned a doctorate in medicine. And yet, on one occasion, Holmes says to him that he did not have the legal right to go by the title "Doctor" since he had only a bachelor's in medicine. Why did Arthur Conan Doyle put such obviously false words in Holmes' mouth?
